A curated list of halal restaurants in the Greater Toronto Area which are deemed acceptable according to a specific set of criteria listed on this page.

The basic rulings regarding halal/haram food are a constant baseline, however a Mu’min should constantly strive to reach higher than the bare minimum. This list is a reflection of that effort, as it is dictated by not only what is Islamically permissible at a minimum level, rather it is also based on ihtiyat (precautionary) recommendations.

This list only covers restaurants which:

  • have a fully halal menu
  • do not serve alcohol either as a food ingredient or a beverage
  • carry an Islamically acceptable environment
  • have Muslim or Ahle Kitab employees who come in physical contact with food items, or non-Ahle Kitab employees who are handling food with gloves. (Due to the difficulty in constantly tracking employee changes across establishments, this responsibility is left up to you to verify before visiting a restaurant)

This list does not cover restaurants which:

  • have partial halal menus, or halal items available only upon request
  • do not ensure the prevention of cross-contamination with haram items
  • serve alcohol either as a food ingredient or a beverage
  • are known/confirmed to have non-Muslim/non-Ahle Kitab employees who come in physical contact with food items without gloves
  • carry conflicting reports/unconfirmed status regarding halal meat suppliers or other aspects of operation
  • carry an Islamically unacceptable environment
